Say hola to Adelaide’s first ever taqueria bar, Disco Mexico. Located right next door to Mexican Society on Gouger St, some of you may remember this spot as the old home of Sangria Bar.
The brains behind this new venue are the same guys who bring you Super California and this time they’ve also teamed up with Chef Alejandro from Lucky Lupitas. “We want to deliver an authentic Mexican experience with Adelaide’s first ever taqueria bar,” says owner, Alex Kleut and they have done just that.
“We love the Mexican culture, in particular the food and fiestas. By putting the two together we are able to translate an authentic experience.”
Disco Mexico brings you the perfect combination of both glamour and grit through their mix of casual edge and a non-pretentious bar vibe. Coupling a simple menu of tacos, quesadillas, volcanes (aka tostadas) and homemade sauces with the grungy yet stylised fit out, the name certainly delivers on all things tacos and disco. We mean por que no los dos?
Continue to enjoy your night sipping away on one of many specialty cocteles. A must-try menu item is the ‘Get Smashed’ – a Disco Mexico twist on our all time fave smashed avo – and for the tequila lovers out there, try the ‘Pineapple Express’.
So whether you plan on visiting Disco Mexico for one drink or making it your all-night fiesta, one thing’s for sure – you won’t be able to resist the neon lights, funky discotheque beats and of course, muchos disco balls.
