It’s no secret that he has always been one of our favourites, so naturally the news of Paolo Sebastian launching his brand new collection has gotten us excited. The Adelaide-based couture label is launching their Autumn/Winter 2017/2018 collection, ‘Reverie’, in Paris.
The collection will be shown at Maison Champs Élysées – coinciding with Paris Haute Couture Week – and we’re told it’s going to show a different aesthetic to what we are used to from the label.
“We’ve really experimented with different techniques and textiles. Silk organza is contrasted against wool cashmere and frayed chiffon in shades of rose, slate blue and muted antique gold,” says Paul Vasileff, the man behind the inimitable label.
Reverie has been inspired by works from the Czech artist Alphonse Mucha, and the Art Nouveau movement of the early 1900s.
“This season we’ve moved away slightly from our traditional soft colour palette and focused on a much deeper colour palette to reflect the muted tones used in Mucha’s work,” he continues.
This latest collection launch comes after his successful showcase in the city of lights last year, which made him the first South Australian brand to present a show in Paris.
“After the success of last year, I feel really lucky that we are able to come back (to Paris) again. While we’ve been working on this collection the showings have definitely been at the forefront of our minds,” Paul says.
The Paolo Sebastian showroom is supported by the State Government through Events South Australia, who also run the Adelaide Fashion Festival. An event that Paul has proudly been a part of since its establishment – and will show at again this year in October.
“Paul works tirelessly to deliver garments that tell a story, have exquisite details and are at home among the world’s most glamorous cities and people,” says AFF’s creative director, Chris Kontos.
This year also marks 10 years since the beginning of the Paolo Sebastian brand, so we can’t wait to see what Paul has in store for this latest collection.
