Not that Calvin Klein underwear campaigns have ever lacked star power or creativity – lest we forget #MYCALVINS – but ever since Raf Simons took over creative control of the campaigns, it has seriously stepped up a notch. With the first menswear one featuring the Academy Award winning cast of Moonlight, this time it geared towards to girls. The ever-creative and ever-eclectic Sofia Coppola directs some seriously cool women in a series of short videos.
Cool girls of all ages from Coppola favourite Kirsten Dunst to the iconic Lauren Hutton talk about first kisses and crushes, corny pick up lines and all the girly things. It’s sweet, it makes you smile and it’s just proof that girls do still just sit around in their underwear – in this case, in their Calvins – and talk about boys.
The full campaign features Dunst and Hutton alongside Rashida Jones, Maya Thurman-Hawke (yep daughter of Uma and Ethan), Laura Harrier and Chase Sui Wonder (Anna Sui’s niece). All shot in black and white and inspired by the old school Avedon commercials of her youth, Coppola captures innocent and intimate moments that all girls can relate to.
Like the new slogan says, it’s Calvin Klein or nothing at all.
